Americares Medical Outreach Program
THURSDAY, APRIL 8, 12:00-12:55PM: Meet with Americares
Americares is a health-focused relief and development organization that saves lives and improves health for people affected by poverty or disaster. Each year, Americares reaches 90 countries on average, including the United States, with life-changing health programs, medicine, medical supplies, and emergency aid. Americares is the world’s leading nonprofit provider of donated medicine and medical supplies.
Each year, Americares Medical Outreach Program supports volunteer medical teams making 1,000 trips a year to more than 75 countries with medicine, supplies and educational resources. These medical teams provide primary care, perform surgeries, respond to emergencies and strengthen local health care capacity in communities where even basic medical care is often non-existent or inaccessible.
As the coronavirus began to spread across the globe in early 2020, Americares dedicated every resource to save lives and slow transmission, especially among people in low-income communities, who continue to be at greatest risk. To accomplish this, we invested in three key areas: access to critical supplies; access to ongoing health services; and access to skills through education, including credible safety information and training for health workers.
As the pandemic enters its second year, Americares will continue to address gaps that most affect disadvantaged communities.

Aquatabs is the world’s most trusted water disinfection tablet. Used for over 37 years, the range includes Aquatabs InLine and Flo dosing systems and new products for effective WASH in healthcare facilities.
We support NGOs, governments, and communities by providing validated, simple and sustainable solutions to advance the availability of safe water for drinking, food preparation, nutrition intervention, and healthcare delivery. Our global partners include UNICEF, the World Health Organization, and many other agencies.
Our network of local partners across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Asia enable us to support requirements rapidly and effectively. Our latest innovation is the Aquatabs Year In A Box, designed to simplify the delivery of WASH in smaller and more remote healthcare facilities.
Delivering an entire year’s requirements in one package, the Aquatabs Year In A Box includes:
Aquatabs tablets, Aquatabs Flo or Aquatabs InLine for safe water provision for drinking and food preparation
Klorkleen for validated and simple-to-deploy surface cleaning and disinfection throughout the facility
Ultraseptin for sterilization of surgical instruments and endoscopes
Soap, spray bottles, and microfiber cloths are also included and the sturdy shipping box is designed to be re-used for instrument sterilization. Users are supported with our training programme for product use and effective Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), utilizing our extensive knowledge base. As a WASH ‘best buy’ we are happy to support pilot studies to demonstrate payback for Aquatabs Year In A Box, costing the facility as little as $1 a day.

Harvard Medical School Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery (MMSc-GHD)
SUNDAY, APRIL 11, 11-11:55AM: Meet virtually with Harvard Medical School Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery
The Harvard Medical School Master of Medical Sciences in Global Health Delivery (MMSc-GHD) program provides training in management, program design, and research that students need to become leaders in the emerging field of global health delivery. The degree-granting program offers a rigorous cross-university curriculum focused on developing the tools needed to perform social and delivery science and policy research in resource-limited settings. The core component of the MMSc-GHD is a field-based mentored research project in global health, culminating in a master's thesis. The mentored research project allows students to participate in the design and conduct an innovative global health delivery project. Beyond developing skills in global health delivery, the thesis gives students opportunity to contribute to the quality of health care delivery at the sites where they work and to contribute to the growing knowledge base that is transforming global health. The MMSc-GHD program connects students with faculty who are leaders in global health and prepares students with the necessary tools to implement projects and programs and to launch productive, fulfilling and successful careers in global health. Upon completion of the program, you will be able to: design and complete rigorous research studies using qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods; identify and address key issues affecting health worldwide; and plan and lead programs to improve health for people in many settings, including settings with limited resources.
