Quest for Innovation Workshop

  • “Quest for Innovation,” Paul Ellingstad, Managing Partner, PTI Advisors
It seems to be a given that innovation is “good” and the more of it, the better.  But how often do we truly assess the options and the trade-offs associated with innovation, including the costs? In this workshop, we’ll have a candid and provocative discussion about the more challenging aspects of the quest for innovation and how the needs of the community and the needs of individual members of the community as well as the collective needs are considered as we seek to improve the status quo through innovation.  You’re invited to join the session not only with an open mind, but with your own experiences and insights to contribute to the conversation, too.

Impact Workshop

  • "Catalyzing Capital for Impact," Yasmina Zaidman, Chief Development and Partnerships Officer, Acumen
Between US$ 3.3-4.5 trillion per year needs to be mobilized to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The financing gap to achieve the SDGs in developing countries is estimated to be US$ 2.5 – 3 trillion per year (UNCTAD World Investment Report, 2014). To close this gap, capital of every kind needs to be mobilized from across the public, private and philanthropic sectors. This workshop will enable participants to share their successes and challenges in mobilizing capital to drive large-scale global social impact, especially for vulnerable people. In particular, we will explore how different kinds of capital are being pooled through public private partnerships and blended capital to bring stakeholders together around global issues like gender equity, climate resilience, and food security.
